A disk write error suggests that there may be something wrong with your hard drive. They usually occur when you have some bad sectors on the drive although there could be another fault. Please try the following steps:

  1. If possible try installing Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition to another hard drive on your computer.
  2. Defrag the hard drive and try again. Please see this guide for more information about how to do this - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/improve-performance-defragmenting-hard-disk#1TC=windows-7
  3. Use Windows to error check the drive and try again. Please see this guide for more information about how to do this - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-vista/check-your-hard-disk-for-errors
  4. If possible format the hard drive and try again. Only do this if you know that it is safe to do so. Warning: Formatting erases any existing files on a hard disk. If you format a hard disk that has files on it, the files will be deleted. Please see this guide for more information about how to do this - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/formatting-disks-and-drives-frequently-asked-questions
