How to Completely Re-Install Train Simulator or Train Sim World.

Re-installing Train Simulator or Train Sim World is fundamentally one of the easiest methods of restoring the software to the default “Factory” state (the term factory simply means to restore to a state as originally intended by the manufacturer). Here’s how:

Train Sim World

  1. If you wish to retain all in-game progress, it’s recommended that you copy your game profile information to a safe location. Navigate to %userprofile%/Documents\My Games\TS2Prototype  (you can copy this to the Windows Explorer address bar to instantly take you there). Copy the Saved folder to a safe place somewhere else on your hard disk.
  2. Load Steam and navigate to your Game Library;
  3. Right-click on Train Sim World and select Uninstall;
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove Train Sim World;
  5. Once the uninstall process has completed, click Install and follow the on-screen instructions to re-install Train Sim World.

Train Simulator

  1. Load Steam and navigate to your Game Library;
  2. Right-click on Train Simulator and select Uninstall;
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove Train Simulator;
  4. Close Steam by selecting Exit from the Steam menu;
  5. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common and check to ensure the Railworks folder is no longer present;
  6.  
  7. Note: If you previously installed Train Simulator to another location, please navigate to that folder instead to ensure there are no remaining files.
  1. Load Steam and navigate to your Game Library;
  2. Left-click on Train Simulator and click the Install button on the right; Follow the on-screen instructions to re-install.
